Elijah is a member of the Golden Grasp—a powerful mob with connections at all levels in the city of Astoria Heights. Although he is a criminal, Elijah is sick of the corruption and injustice in the city, and dreams of a better world. He believes that the gods have placed him in Astoria Heights to usher in that new world, and he intends to do so by assassinating the Princeps.

Deli is an up-and-coming musician from the seaside town of Oshana. Following a bad break-up with the lead singer of her former band, Nalos and the Waves, she has set out to forge her own path, and go solo. After an unusual meeting with a man named Daeva, she signed a deal with his music label, Record Scratch, and has been doing shows since. She’s poised to make her big break with a performance in Astoria Heights for the Princeps.

Mona lives a quiet life at a monastery for the god Ioun just outside of the town of Swan Falls. She is an Eladrin, but a very unusual one. Most Eladrin take on aspects of different seasons as they correlate to their emotional state; Mona’s season changes randomly, in a way she has no control over. Most Eladrin do not dream, instead entering a meditative state; Mona has begun to dream quite often, and these dreams seem to be visions of things to come.
